On the 10th of July, the Friends of Pittencrieff Park hosted an engaging Cyanotype workshop in the park’s greenhouse, led by the talented Alby Grainger. This fascinating photographic technique, dating back to the 19th century, uses sunlight to develop images on photosensitive paper, producing stunning blue and white prints.
The greenhouse transformed into a creative hub as participants of all ages gathered to learn and create. Alby’s demonstration of arranging objects on coated paper, exposing them to sunlight, and rinsing them in water captivated everyone. Soon, attendees were eagerly making their own Cyanotype art using leaves, flowers, and personal mementos.
The session was filled with excitement as beautiful, ethereal images began to emerge. Alby’s guidance was invaluable, helping both seasoned artists and curious novices alike. The workshop fostered a sense of community and collaboration, with the greenhouse walls soon adorned with an array of stunning prints.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity and looking forward to future workshops. The event was a testament to the Friends of Pittencrieff Park’s dedication to offering enriching activities for the community.
In summary, the Cyanotype workshop was a resounding success, leaving participants with beautiful artwork and fond memories. A big thank you to Alby Grainger and all who joined us. Stay tuned for more creative adventures at Pittencrieff Park!
